Chef Point Café, the fine dining location in Watauga that also happens to double as a gas station, has made several big changes.
The restaurant, located in a Conoco gas station at 5901 Watauga Road, has doubled its seating, is adding a full-service bar, and now includes a large private party room. Most of the work has been completed, according to Franson Nwaeze, Chef Point’s Nigerian-born chef.
Nwaeze originally came to America to study aeronautics, but opened the upscale restaurant/gas station in Watauga instead. Since opening in 2003, Nwaeze has expanded the dining area three times to accommodate the influx of curious guests, including Guy Fieri of Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives” in 2009.
Chef Point on Wheels mobile kitchen still makes a lunch stop at Gordon Boswell Flowers on Pennsylvania Avenue every Wednesday.
